One of our favourite walks is to Franz Josef glacier . We are so lucky to be living a few minutes drive away from one of New Zealands premier scenic wonders. The most special feature about this glacier is that it desends through temperate rainforest to within 100m above sea level. Over the past two years it has been advancing at a metre a day. The changes are dramatic.
The rock we sat on a year ago is now covered in ice!
